Millions of low-income seniors continue to miss out on benefits that can help them pay for their health care, prescriptions, food, utilities and more.
These aren’t handouts or welfare—by working hard their whole lives, older adults have paid into the programs that can now provide them support needed to remain healthy and independent.
With funding from the U.S. Administration for Community Living, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (of which IAAAA is a member) and the National Council on Aging implemented the You Gave, Now Save national campaign to help low-income older adults and their families find assistance through three key resources:
- BenefitsCheckUp®: The nation’s most comprehensive web-based service offering information on benefits programs, specifically programs for people with Medicare and limited income and resources.
- Eldercare Locator: The nationwide service that connects older adults and their caregivers with information on senior services, available online at toll-free at 1.800.677.1116.
- Benefits Guide: The types of assistance available, how to apply and where to learn more.
